Tilia Botanicals is Your Centre for Herbal Learning

Tilia is pleased to be able to offer fun & educational classes and special events in many aspects of the herbal culture. Classes include topics such as how to make herbal remedies; growing herbs; plant ID and harvest wild plants;  aromatherapy, making soap and personal care items; how to cook with herbs, and wild food foraging. We even offer summer camps for kids! Our teachers are all experts in their field and joyfully share their passion for plants and natural health with event participants.


We host great private events including birthday parties (children and adult), pamper parties for bridal or baby showers; family reunion activities and we even offer private group classes for 4 or more people on any topic of your choice. We would love to create a unique event just for you and your friends.

Classes at Tilia

At Tilia we absolutely love sharing our passion for herbs, healthy living, creativity and more.  Our list of classes over the years continues to grow as we try to offer something for everyone.  Whether you are interested in making your own natural cosmetics or home remedies, identifying healing plants in the wild, gardening, or even want to get your young ones learning about nature we are happy to help! Herbie Saturdays for Kids


Once a month our budding herbalists will get together to learn about herbs and participate in a fun project. From picking poplar buds for making salves to using plants to dye Easter eggs, and pretty much everything in between, your little ones will have fun filled time exploring the wonderful world of herbs! Classes are broken into two age groups – 5 to 7 years old (a.m. session) and 8 to 12 years old (p.m. session). 



Saturdays, February 19th, March 19th, April 23rd, and May 28th


COST: $30 or $110 + GST for all 4 classes (purchased at the same time). Family discount rate available, please call for details.



Jessica Shearer is a medical herbalist and has been involved in children’s programs for over 10 years. She is the coordinator for our successful Kid’s Camp. Courtney Palmer is Tilia’s Production Manager and is a passionate herb girl. She loves sharing the wonder of herbal crafts with kids.

Wild Food Foraging

This exciting class is led by Naturalist Kim Asquith and will see participants going out into the Creston Valley to find edible wild plants. She will share the many ways that these plants have been used historically for food and the best times to harvest them. Dress for all types of weather and terrain.  A handout with recipes using wild foods for cooking will be provided so you can enjoy preparing at home!

She has taught wild foraging to both adults and children and loves sharing her passion for foraging. Jessica Shearer has been a Medical Herbalist for over 10 years and spends her free time exploring the plants of the Creston Valley. Together this dynamic team bring knowledge and fun to their classes.

Making Your Own Herbal First Aid Kit

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make some basic herbal remedies to use to treat the “owies” of life? In this class herbalist Rachel Beck, will teach you about some great first aid herbs and participants will make them into tinctures, salves, and other healing preparations. These remedies are perfect for helping you create your own herbal first aid kit. Participants should bring jars (3 – 250ml and 3 - 500ml) with them to the class.

Plant Identification in the Wild


Have you ever found yourself wondering “what is that plant?” when you are out on a nature walk and, despite flipping through guidebooks, you still can’t figure out the plant's name?  Naturalist Kim Asquith and Herbalist Jessica Shearer will teach you the techniques for identifying medicinal & food plants in the wild so you can have success when you go on your own. Dress for all types of weather and terrain.  Handouts provided to help you when you are out exploring on your own.
